Our Story

How it all began….

VA costumes began as a passion project in 2017 — born from a mother’s love for her daughter’s rhythmic gymnastics and ballet journey. What started with hand-drawn designs soon grew into custom creations for entire school teams and competitive gymnasts.

Officially launched in 2020, VA costumes blends artistry with function, offering both made-to-measure costumes and curated ready-to-wear pieces.

Initially focused on bespoke rhythmic gymnastics costumes, VA costumes evolved as we began sourcing and designing for ballet schools and studios. We introduced our own line of leotards, tutus, and regulation wear under the VA label — expanding our reach to dancers beyond the competition floor. As demand grew, we added beautifully designed performance costumes from international brands from Australia and Asia, covering styles from ballet to lyrical, jazz, and contemporary dance.

Whether it’s a lyrical solo, a ballet exam, or a rhythmic gymnastic competition, our pieces are made to move — and made to be remembered.

Named after our founder, VA also stands for Vision in Artistry — because every costume we make starts with a vision and is brought to life through the artistry of movement, colour, and craftsmanship.
